Mission Trip Update

We will be going to New Orleans for a mission trip in Summer 2008
and
National Youth Gathering in New Orleans, in 2009

Our team is in place!! They are:
Rich & Seneca, Laurie & Caitlin, Kari & Rich, Hannah,
Jordan, Liz, Cindy, Jeff & Brian, Annika,
Emily, Alexandra, Angela,
Kathy Fisher and Kathleen Anderson.

What's Happening for Youth?

For all ages:

HTLC at the Movies!!
 Sunday, May 18 at 1:30 pm
 (bargain matinee $7.75 per ticket)
 The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian. 
We will all meet up at Lincoln Square Cinemas in Bellevue
to share the next chapter in the Narnia series!
Everyone of all ages is invited to come!
I will have a large bag of candy...

Youth Committee ‘Ideas’ Lunch: Sunday, June 1, 12 noon:
Let’s meet to plan our future! Postcards have gone out to 3^rd – 11^th grade students and parents inviting you all to participate!!
We will review the ‘traditional’ activities – then break into groups
(4/5^th grade, 6-8^th grade, 9-12^th grade) to brainstorm
what we will do for the next few YEARS!
This is YOUR youth group ~ and a group is only as good as its members~
so plan to attend (and eat lunch) and plot the future of
youth activities at Holy Trinity!
Please let Kathy know if you’re coming, so there is plenty of food

Take me out to the Ballgame!
  Saturday, June 14   we have 20 tickets for the 7:10 pm Mariners’ Game. 
20 tickets are available to take Dad to Safeco –
dads will receive a Mariner’s Father’s Day shirt!!
Bonus: come to HTLC at 5 pm for hot dogs, soda, chips ---
and peanuts and cracker jack to take to the game. 
You are free to car pool from HTLC!
Email Kathy (or sign up on her door) if you want tickets! $25 pp.

• NEWS FLASH: Our own Paget Knebel will be singing the National Anthem at the June 2^nd Mariners game. YeAh!!

Middle School Madness:

• Trinity Singers are back in rehearsals on Sundays at 11:30 am!
  (see details of rehearsal dates and times on the Music page)
• Confirmation Classes: 6th, 7th and 8th graders meet Sunday morning at 9 am. Bring your Bible and Lutheran Handbook. Attendance counts, and so do Sermon Notes! See you there.....
• Compass Center breakfasts: Hurray! Lisa Kittilsby is now coordinating our Compass Center breakfasts once a month. Please contact her to sign up.
  
  Upcoming Events:

• Starbucks - I have had requests to meet at the South End Starbucks with my middle school buddies! So, mark your calendars for Monday, May 12 - I’ll see you there right after school! You get the drink/snack of your choice, I get to ask questions....perfect!!

 

High School Happenings:

Latte Cart dates - Every Sunday. Please sign up for 1 Sunday each month;
sign-up sheets are in Kathy's office.

Sunday School - Angela has returned!! Hurray!! High School Sunday School meets at 9 am. Bring a Bible and a pen (so you can write in your Bible). She will be starting a new lesson plan January 6th.

       Upcoming Events:

• Mission: New Orleans: Thank you for your support!
  Thanks to your enthusiasm at our Mardis Gras Party, we raised $2117!!  Fantastic!
  And it will be matched with Thrivent Funds which makes a total of $2717!!
• Graduation Sunday: HTLC Seniors! We are celebrating YOU on Sunday, June 1^st at the 10:15 am service. Please get Kathy a Senior picture and let her know what you’re doing next year (College - Which one?? Job? Travel – where?)
• Mercer Island Baccalaureate will again be at Holy Trinity on Thursday, June 5th at 7pm. All Seniors - whether they attend MIHS or any other high school - are invited and encouraged to attend!



Look at what we're planning!!:

• Holden Village, May 24-27, 2008: We are taking our largest group EVER to Holden on Memorial Weekend!  You have no idea how happy that makes me! It’s the last May Youth Weekend for a group of our seniors who have gone every year since freshman year: Kelly, Cameron, Christine, Ben and Liz are taking their last high school trip!  Thank goodness Jeremy has another child - he’s been a chaperone for May Youth Weekend we’ve gone on!!
• Mission 2008 to New Orleans: Our team is in place!! They are: Rich & Seneca, Laurie & Caitlin, Kari & Rich, Hannah, Jordan, Liz, Cindy, Jeff & Brian, Annika, Emily, Alexandra, Angela, Kathy Fisher and Kathleen Anderson. Look for a letter about our trip and the money we still need to raise.  AND, weather permitting, we will have a CAR WASH on Sunday, April 27th, following the 10:15 am service in the upper parking lot. Bring that dirty car (and tell your neighbors) - we’re hoping to bring in $500-600 that day!
• National Youth Gathering, July 22-29, 2009, in New Orleans: We will add a week to go to Mississippi for Hurricane Relief Work. Cost is $1500 per person; $200 deposit due Nov. 1, 2008.
