Adult Forum

October 30th: 9:30 AM in the Chapel.

Celebrate Reformation Sunday by wearing RED and watching “Opening the Door to Luther” a video presentation for the ELCA by Rick Steves. While you are watching, think about walking in those same streets.

A survey will be handed out to see if there is interest in taking a trip to where Luther (and Bach) walked, prayed, spoke and sang. 2012 is the “Year of Music” for the Luther 500 decade one celebration. Come, see, hear, think!

I Love To Tell the Story …

We all have stories to tell: humorous happenings, learning experiences, news about our families, triumphs and tragedies, and plans for the future.

And as the people of God, we have stories to tell about what God has done for us and about the difference that God’s grace has made in our lives. Sometimes we are less aware of these stories until they are coaxed out of us – but they are there, part of whomever are.

Rally Sunday

Welcome back! September 11th is Rally Sunday, the celebration of our new program year at Holy Trinity. It is also the first day of our new schedule. Worship will be celebrated at 8:00 AM in the Chapel and at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary. If we were to give the second worship a title, it would be “Family Friendly: Tradition and New Song”.

Sunday School will be held concurrent with the second worship. We will begin with all children (and their families) in the Sanctuary for the opening of worship. Following a   children’s message, the children and teachers will be sent out with a blessing to enjoy some learning time. All children and teachers will return to worship at the time of Holy Communion to rejoin their families.

We haven’t forgotten the adults. Every Sunday at 9:00 adult education will be offered. The topics will vary and include Bible study and special speakers. There will also be nursery care for children 5 and under and a supervised activity for older children during this time.

And of course, Sunday morning always includes a time for fellowship. Coffee, goodies and conversation, usually coupled with laughter, are served up all morning in the atrium.

Blessing the Mission Trip!

Sunday, July 31, our “Urban Plunge” mission team heads down I-5 for a week of service in the Portland, Oregon area. We will be staying at Trinity Lutheran Church, Gresham. Because this is an all-girl trip, we are focusing on organizations that help women: Raphael House (Portland), emergency shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence, My Father’s House (Gresham), transitional housing for families, Zarephath Kitchen, serving meals to those in need daily and with dignity. We are also planning on ‘random acts of kindness’ – handing out bagged meals to people that we see in need, offering smiles and prayer.

We’re asking for prayer for these missionaries during our trip: Loreal Camp, Alyx Simon, Hannah Johnson, Joanna Cobb, Suri Johnson, Nicole Anderson, Kelsey Tootill, Kathy Fisher and another chaperone to be named soon!
